one of the finest schools in India and founded by the British Viceroy Lord Mayo, the College is famous not only for its education but for its architecture as well. Designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, the state engineer of Jaipur, Mayo College is built of white marble. Founded in 1875 as a school for Indian princes, its first pupil was the Maharaja of Alwar. Keeping tradition and royalty in mind, the prince arrived at the college perched on an elephant along with a massive entourage of servants, camels, trumpeters and whoever wished to come along. rudyard Kipling’s father designed Mayo’s coat of arms, and the college’s students normally proceeded to Oxford or Cambridge universities after being groomed on how to behave like `British gentlemen’. The college premises also have a hospital and a museum with portraits of its illustrous alumni and souvenirs from princely pasts

The school befitted princes, with its huge gardens and rooms for their servants to live. Not to be outdone, some princes built their own mini palaces within the school premises. Today, Mayo College is no longer restricted to children of the rich and famous. Although the British left India 50 years ago, Mayo College still retains its Imperial aura.

 Engineering College,

Introduction :

Engineering College, Ajmer an autonomous institute of the Government of Rajasthan, was established in 1997 at the legendary station Ajmer that is conspicuous of its academic and religious forte. At present the college is running in the Government Polytechnic College Campus which is approximately 7 km from railways station and 10 km from bus stand on Nasirabad road about 200 m. beyond Jaipur by pass intersection.

Very soon we shall have our own building on a separate piece of land allotted by State Government measuring 303 bigha. The management is run by the Council of Governors under the Chairmanship of the Technical Education Minister, Government of Rajasthan.

At present there are four disciplines namely :

echanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering & Information Technology with intake capacity of 40, 40, 30, 30 respectively.

We are new, but the zest of bringing ourselves up with other esteemed colleges is like that of a child, we are still young and ready to stretch out to those horizons of knowledge and ultimate success which others have already acquired and henceforth sitting with their “wings furled close”. Considering human mind as our fundamental resource the college aims to provide well structured programs strong and relevant curricula and out standing educational facilities with focus on personality development of students. Our growing faculty is learned and ebullient they have a way of giving a personal touch to teaching which confers spontaneity in the friends educational and thus benefit the student in all possible ways. Student will have to pass through a rigorous task of four years discipline reading working and devotion and finally when they move out of college they would shine as those tough, rugged and bright gentlemen, ready to face the challenges.

Infrastructure

The campus spreads over 150 acres constituting of different blocks of each department lecture halls tutorial rooms, library, administrative blocks, workshops (being shared with Government Polytechnic College) Computer labs, sport complex (being shared with Government Polytechnic College) etc. Water supply & Electricity is available for 24 hours on campus.

The college is at present not equipped with hostel facility, however, students can reside in the private hostels and residential colonies near by college campus.

Library  

The library is stocked with nearly 10,000 books including text books, reference books, general reading books and Journals (national & international) & magazines. Separate book bank facility for general & SC/ ST students is available. Facility of DELNET is available which provides access to the Library resources of IITs & NITs.

Internet

Facility of internet is available by Dial – up and ISDN connections. VSAT / leased line have been included in future plans.

ICC

Industrial Consultancy Cell has been successfully functioning for the past six years.

Placement

Three batches of Mechanical Engineering two batches of Electronics & Communication Engineering have passed out. Students of these batches have shown excellent performance and have secured jobs in government private & public sectors. Student have also shown excellent performance in GATE examinations and got admission in IITs & NITs. Students have also got admissions abroad. This year two of our students have been selected in Indian Engineering Services (ECE) with 22^nd & 28^th ranks.

In the session 2003-2004 placement in M/s Syntel. Mumbai, M/s Aditya Birla, Chittorgarh & M/s Satyam have been confirmed.
